Your Moment Of ‘Zoo… long gone by!
Your Moment of Zoo… During the last quarter of the 19th century, when Kalamazoo was called “the most elegant town in the Midwest,” it had three men’s clubs: the Kalamazoo, the Academy, and the Cosmopolitan. On February 22, 1904, the three clubs merged and because they immediately purchased the former Nathaniel Balch Home on the corner of Rose and South streets facing Bronson Park, they named their new organization the Park Club.
Your Moment of Zoo… Every guitar player in the world knows this name! Certainly a blast from the past, but still… a historical landmark right here in our town!
Your Moment of ‘Zoo… Kalamazoo’s Original Coffee House!
Your Moment of ‘Zoo… Interesting difference in architecture!
Your Moment of ‘Zoo… For years I’ve been thinking about taking this picture, but as long the sign was turning, there was just no way going to do a long exposure 🙂 Recently the motor stopped and finally, I was able to seize the opportunity!
Your Moment of ‘Zoo… Looks like the last physical evidence of the M.D. Ellis Jewelry store in Kalamazoo. I was searching for more history on the store, but all I could find was that it was founded in 1958 by Raymond Mackie. If you have some info on the history please reply to this blog!
Your Moment of ‘Zoo… the town just looks different @Dusk! I was attracted to the lights enhancing the buildings appearance, but had to process the heck out of it to recreate the impression it made on me. And all I see now are burned out lights 🙂 I come up with 5! Do you find any more?
